National Volunteer Week – Building Community Together

20 May, 2025

Ballina Credit Union, along with credit unions across Ireland, are delighted to partner with Volunteer Ireland to celebrate National Volunteering Week. The week is dedicated to showcasing the enormous contribution of volunteers and their impact on our communities.

This year’s theme is Building Community Together, with a specific focus on the social opportunities that volunteering offers such as meeting new people, making friends and connecting with your community.

As member-owned financial cooperatives and with a philosophy of ‘people helping people, volunteerism is at the very heart of the work of credit unions.

There are a multitude of reasons why people volunteer with their local credit union. For some, they will feel that they have specific skills that the credit union would benefit from or they would like to give something back to my community. Others will volunteer to gain experience and training opportunities or to meet new people and to expand their social and professional network.

Over the next fives days to celebrate volunteer week, we will be highlighting volunteers’ experiences and the roles of committees within Ballina Credit Union.
